  now i can pursue the career i've always wanted without guilt.

  i hid my writing career for 2 years, because i couldn't let anyone know the movies that i watched.

  i'm getting published in newspapers, magazines, and running my own successful website on the internet... but i couldn't tell anyone.

  ...my only response to this letter is that it was clearly written by a person who is so dedicated to his religious belief that he has chosen blind ignorance over rational thought.

  As I was once a Jehovahs Witness who thought and responded the same way, I recognize this "blind ignorance" immediately.

  It is the same mind set we encounter from all of the JWs from our perspective '"outside".

  having a hard time making friends

  i was wondering if anyone else has had a hard time making friends since leaving the organization.

  being raised as a jw, it seems difficult to me, as i was never allowed to have any friends who weren't other jw's.

  as a result, i have isolated myself to only my immediate family.

  Yes, what you are going thru is a natural process of your upbringing, as you stated. I also had a hard tiime socializing on the outside. But good news is that is will pass; and you will move on with your life.

  My suggestion to you is to get yourself into therapy for dealing with the transition. It will help you adjust. Also, join some local clubs. there must be some hobby or interest you can pursue. It will allow you to focus your attentions on something other than your current "loss of JW friends and support".

  Keep yourself busy.

  Boating; flying ; stamp collecting ; sketching; work outs at the gym, etc. This is a great venue for you to meet new people with similar interests. The socializing snowballs and you will see how quickly you will meet new people. You will find that people on the outside do not care what religion you are; they will accept you on your terms. This is very different from the JW community we all came from.

  This worked for me .

  Women are the weaker sex

  this proves the bible and the wtbts wrong.

  the scripture says women are the weaker sex - wll as most men will surely admit t this is a load of crap - women are incredibly strong.

  they bear children and keep going when they have a headache etc.

  I will be the first to admit that my wife is smarter than me ( and prettier!)....my physical strength may be superior to hers ( which, by the way is only an asset if we are having rough sex); I do not go around beating my chest. As to being "the weaker sex" I suppose that is correct from a physical perspective only.

  However, life in the 21st century is a time when women have an equal footing with men for the first time in history. How can ANY woman still accept the JW interpertaion of how a "christian wife" should be subserviant to her husband? If they use the bible to substantiate their argument it should be realized that the bible was a book written by MEN; in an ancient time when women were considered chattel. Society has evolved beyond that.

  I have two daughters and I have EVERY intention of educating them with the same direction given to my son---why are they ANY different or deserving of less? Why should they be treated ANY differently by society?

  ...I think a female American President would be very refreshing....and if Condoleeza is elected it would be a double header for the minority court; first female and first black president; she would have to live up to some incredably high ideals.....

  Although, in all honesty, it would be nice to think that if that time came, the American people would be open minded enough to accept a presidents sexuality as a private matter, and not make judgement calls...

  ...and that time will most likely come when America has socialized higher education and health care....

  ..now, as an obnoxious AMerican AND a New Yorker; I will add fuel to this fire .....

  common knowledge that since his recent surgery; Bill has not been much of a "husband" , so to speak...

  Hilary ( not being as obvious as her presidential husband in taking advantage of an "assistant") does require from time to time, a TUNE UP; after all, she is only human...

  It is obvious that she has not been "tuned up " in a while....

  Sex And Baal.

  i was recalling yesterday with a newbie -ex how some dub folk liken the sex act to baal worship.. we had one chappie in our congregation who would forever be admonishing us that partaking in oral sex or anal sex (why are they always bracketed together by jw's?

  ) were in themselves an act of baal worship even if one was legally married to the initiator / recipient.. i don't get it.

  (the point of view, not the sex) anyone else come across this one?.

  not specifically,

  but I can imagine whay the ancients would create a worship cult around sex...considering the enourmous "high" that the after effects leave you with. Imagine that "high" as a renewable energy field which is renewed and intensified with each sex act.

  ....this worldly thinking just gets better and better....

  well, not surprised, i have been telling them and others who ask that the org is hugely corrupt, apostate, blasphemers, hypocrites etc.

  maybe because i told someone about the un thing and she may have told someone else, or maybe they're just spring-cleaning.

  at any rate they(2 elders ) came round unannounced and beat about the bush in a pitiful way.i put them out of their misery eventually, by telling them that in no way did i consider myself a jw, nor did i believe the gb were god's mouthpiece.i said a lot more besides, i re-informed one, informed the other all about the un thing and offered him proof - no - he didn't want to see.

  they are scripturally trained to prove to others why they are "in the truth".

  from your vantage point, how can you show this is untrue??
